BookWorm Update...

Just an update on my book reading......One of my favorite authors is Janet Evanovich and I especially love her series of books about the character, Stephanie Plum. Stephanie is a lingerie buyer for a department store but, she loses her job. Jobs are hard to come buy so she goes to work for her not always ethical Uncle Vinnie, the bonds agent as a bounty hunter. Let's just say she isn't exactly your typical bounty hunter and she gets into hilarious and sticky situations. Not to mention, she has this love triangle thing going with the cop, Joe Morelli and the mercenary "Ranger".

I just finished book 10 in the series...

In Ten Big Ones, Stephanie is the target of a gang. Her sidekick Lula is hilarious as always and Grandma Mazur tags along for some of the fun.
I recommend these books but definately start with book one and read them all.

This is book 6 for the year.

It Is Well With My Soul....by Horatio Spafford 1873

I have to give credit for this entry to one of our songleaders @ Rosemark, Chris Jones.
Thank you Chris for the insight on this wonderful hymn. It gives it a whole new meaning for me.

This hymn was written after two major traumas in Spafford’s life. The first was the great Chicago Fire of October 1871, which ruined him financially (he had been a wealthy businessman). Shortly after, while crossing the Atlantic, all four of Spafford’s daughters died in a collision with another ship. Spafford’s wife Anna survived and sent him the now famous telegram, “Saved alone.” Several weeks later, as Spafford’s own ship passed near the spot where his daughters died, these inspired words were written. They speak to the eternal hope that all believers have, no matter what pain and grief befall them on earth.

Now that you know the events that inspired the hymn we've sung all our lives...read the words...

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,When sorrows like sea billows roll;Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,It is well, it is well, with my soul.
Refrain
It is well, with my soul,It is well, with my soul,It is well, it is well, with my soul.
Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,Let this blest assurance control,That Christ has regarded my helpless estate,And hath shed His own blood for my soul.
Refrain
My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought! My sin, not in part but the whole,Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!
Refrain
For me, be it Christ, be it Christ hence to live:If Jordan above me shall roll,No pang shall be mine, for in death as in lifeThou wilt whisper Thy peace to my soul.
Refrain
But, Lord, ‘tis for Thee, for Thy coming we wait,The sky, not the grave, is our goal;Oh trump of the angel! Oh voice of the Lord!Blessèd hope, blessèd rest of my soul!
Refrain
And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,The clouds be rolled back as a scroll; The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend,Even so, it is well with my soul.
Refrain

A Mother's Love

Today at worship, I heard about the fate of many children in Haiti. Haiti is a third world country and many mothers cannot afford to feed their children. The choices they have are 1. let them starve or 2. sacrifice them to their pagan god's.

Can you imagine?

One little girl named Florine could have been given one of these fates if it weren't for the persistence of her mother. She went to an orphanage every day for thirty days asking for them to take her daughter because she could not feed her.

Finally, they agreed and took Florine.

Today, Florine lives in the United States. Tennessee is her home and her adoptive parents are Joshua and Rachel. During their mission work to Haiti, they met Florine and fell in love. She is now their daughter.

All because of her mother's love, Florine has been blessed with a chance not many children in Haiti receive. I have a daughter of my own and I know how hard it must have been.

The picture is of my daughter Mollie and Florine. Thank you Josh for sharing Florine's story during worship yesterday. You and Rachel have been blessed to have Florine join your family.

I'm done...

I have finished all four of the books in the Twilight series. Although I enjoyed all of the books, I have to be truthful. Book One and Three are my favorites.

Without spoiling it for everyone that hasn't read them and wants to read them...Yes, I loved them and recommend them.

So, on my countdown this year of books read, I am up to five books. Doesn't sound like many but if you've seen the size of the Twilight books...they are HUGE!!!

So, read and enjoy !!!

When I grow up...

When I grow up I want to...............

I remember when I was little that this question was so easy. Ballerina. I wanted to be a ballerina and nothing entered my mind that would lead me to believe that I couldn't one day be a ballerina. I would day dream about being grown in satin ballet shoes.

When I asked my daughter at age three or four what she wanted to be when she grew up, the question was easy for her. A Spice Girl. It was a fast answer and nothing she had to think about.

(and yes what a proud moment for me) I'm 43 now, not a ballerina and I believe (and pray) that Mollie has changed her Spice Girl ambitions to dental hygienist. At least for today. She still has plenty of time and lots of dreams to sort through.

But what about me? I've been reflecting and thinking a lot lately about what my dreams are now. I keep going to photographer. I'm not sure if I'm good enough or patient enough or if this should just be a cool hobby.

This is where I need reader participation. I'm going to post a few recent photos I've taken and I want comments and criticism. (also on my last blog, i took the snapshots of Hannah and Justus)

Book Two...New Moon

Sorry about the time gap between blogs. Yes, I've been reading... a lot.

In the little bit of spare time I have, my nose has been buried in the Twilight books. The world of Edward and Bella has me entranced and entertained me. As I may have mentioned in my "Oh Edward" blog,

I was a "late bloomer" about reading these books. My daughter, Mollie, is the one who wanted them and I thought they were for young teens. Then some of my friends read them and said I should too.

I finished the second book, New Moon and

I'm now actually almost finished reading Eclipse (the third book) and I am LOVING it.

Next is Breaking Dawn and I can't wait. My friend, Lanell, has been a step ahead of me on reading them and I want to thank Mollie who was been kind enough to let us borrow them. She is very protective of her Twilight books so this is a big deal. THANK YOU MOLLIE MONSTER !!! Of course Lanell calls her Princess...so thank you Princess from Mama Lanell.

I highly recommend the books. Especially if you have a daughter that has read them. It's been pretty cool to have books that mom and teen both enjoy and we love recalling events in the books together. Now she wants me to travel to FORKS WASHINGTON.......
