Burlesque

Sometimes when your "besties" call and say...it's time for a girl movie afternoon...you don't really care what you go see because it's just the need to be with your girls.
This is EXACTLY what happened on Sunday afternoon. LaNell, Gina, and I met for a girl movie. The chosen one was, Burlesque. I was skeptical to be honest because I am not a Christna Aquilara fan. Let's just say, I WAS not a Christina Aquilara fan.
I went in expecting NOT to like this movie and was completely delighted when I came away thoroughly enjoying this movie. It was entertaining and light.
Kudos to Christina and Cher for a couple of hours of Hollywood entertainment and kudos to LaNell and Gina for a great movie pick and fun movie afternoon.

Thanksgiving Day Traditions

One of our family traditions on Thanksgiving Day is watching the Macy's Parade. Of course we all know the highlight of the parade is none other that Santa Claus making his last appearance before Christmas Eve.
I used to and still do love watching the Macy's Parade on Thanksgiving morning and
this year I got to share the Santa Claus arrival with my great niece and nephew, Hannah and Justus.
Here is the moment....

What are we waiting for?

Wait for it?

I think I see something.....

SANTA!!!!!

Adventures on a Saturday Morning

Being broke sometimes has it's adavantages. It kind of forces you into creating adventures that cost very little or nothing at all. And those adventures bring some priceless memories. That is exactly what we did Saturday morning. We had driven through the town square on Friday night and noticed all the little shops were decorated and lit up with holiday and Christmas decorations and I decided that on Saturday morning we should go and browse and window shop.
It was fun and didn't cost a dime.

Blessed

I ran over to the dollar store on my lunch break today. And as I was driving through the shopping center parking lot, I saw this in front of the old Marshall's store which closed down last year. No, it's not trash. It's someones bed and worldly possessions. Some one slept here!!! I know that last night we had terrible thunderstorms and tonight we are expected to have very cold temperatures. I cannot imagine living like this. My whole life I have been blessed with a family, a home, warm clothes, food on the table, a bed, a shower and bath, shoes, and the list goes on. The things I listed are what most of us consider the basics and we lack for none of them. In fact, I am feeling pretty spoiled as well as blessed at the moment. Now, I don't know how people become homeless. I hear that some are lazy and I hear some are scamming us standing on the street corners begging for money and then go get into an expensive car and drive to a luxurious home. Shame on those who are dishonest, but what about the ones that aren't lazy or scamming? Thanksgiving is just a few days away and I hope that when we are with our families this year we really appreciate our blessings and pray for those who are less fortunate.

Fearless Fourteen by Janet Evanovich

I finished reading Fearless Fourteen last night. It's obviously the 14th book in the Stephanie Plum series. It was good but I think 12 was better and as I noted before, I have missed 13. LaNell is trying to locate a copy of 13 from her mom so I can fill in the blank. Haha!
This time Stephanie was tracking down a group of men who had robbed a bank years earlier and they were trying to retrieve the 9 million dollars hidden somewhere.
Like I said, it was good because I have grown to love the characters but, probably not my favorite in the series.

What Makes You Smile?

What makes you smile? Once again I have to give the credit to Laura. I love reading Laura's blog and she gives me great ideas on blogging. You should hop over to her's and read. It's JUST PUT ON A LITTLE LIPSTICK.

Here is the assignment............

Stop – grab a sheet of paper and write down 25 things that bring you joy, make your heart sing, or at the very least bring a big goofy smile to your face. Don’t stop and analyze the list, just jot them down quickly – straight from your gut!

Now, add at least one of those things you wrote down to your to-do list for this week

On my comments....tell me which one you put on your to do list.

Poor Jack

In case you have been wondering what happened to Jack... Here he is. A little shriveled and living in the flower bed with the coke can.

Operation Beautiful

Have you heard of Operation Beautiful? I recently heard some women talking about it on a radio talk show. It is such a simple concept and it is a GREAT idea.

Basically, the goal of the Operation Beautiful website is to end negative self-talk or “Fat Talk.” The editor of this blog has a goal. Caitlin says in her mission statement "I hope it helps readers realize how truly toxic negative self-talk is — it hurts you emotionally, spiritually, and physically."

A simple post it note left on a public bathroom mirror, elevator, a co-worker's desk, stating something positive...you are beautiful inside and out! or You are amazing just the way you are!

The slogan is ...transforming the way you see yourself one post it at a time.

This is where you can find it....

http://operationbeautiful.com/

And, yes, I have left a post it note. Here is my first one...

Ok, here is a thought. If someone can start a blog wanting women to change how we feel about ourselves one post it note at a time...why can't we bring people to Jesus, one post it note at a time. Hmmmmmmmm?????

I will let that idea sink in and maybe you or I can start a blog...Meet My Jesus...One Post it Note at a Time???

French Dip

Not long ago...I introduced Mollie to a French Dip sandwich. So, a few weeks ago we stopped at McAlister's after a dental appointment and she showed off her dipping techniques.

She looks like a pro to me.

12 Sharp by Janet Evanovich

Another book and another Stephanie Plum novel read and under my belt. Love, love, love the Stephanie Plum books. She is a quirky girl who is thrown into the job as a bounty hunter. She isn't that great at it and that is what makes them so fun to read.
I have book number 14 ready to read. I do not know what I did with number 13 in the series. Ugh!!! I hate to get out of order but I hate not to read when I am on a roll. WooooHooo!!!

The View from Our Seats

As mentioned previously, the Alabama vs Tennessee was awesome. It was an experience to be in the Tennessee stadium. (by the way...never say never because I said....."I will NEVER go to a game at the Tennessee stadium in Knoxville) So, as I ate my words along with a hot dog, pop corn, cotton candy, peanuts, a pretzel, etc.... I was also taking in the view you see here. Roll Tide Roll!!!

Quote of the Day

"I may not have control over what happens in my life, but I do have control over my attitude". ~Christine N.

This is another borrowed quote from Laura's blog.

Really read it. It's so true. Our lives are not always smooth and joyful so when we get bad news or get thrown a curve ball, the only thing we can control is ourselves and our attitudes. Hmmmmm....
Thanks for making me think Laura!!!
