Trust

My friend Lanell sent me this email today. I can't get it out of my head. Those of you who really know me(and you know who you are)...know that patience is not one of my virtues. I try so hard but, I want what I want NOW!!! We all know the reality is, none of us are in control. I need to learn how to scoot over from behind the steering wheel and let God drive. I should probably give him the keys too!!!
Thanks Lanell for the inspiring email. I love you Lanell!!!

Trust God to Do it His Way

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE
"As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts"
(Isaiah 55:9, NIV)

TODAY'S WORD from Joel and Victoria
Every person has things they're believing for, situations they want to see changed, and dreams God has placed in their hearts. But sometimes, we try to figure out how it's all going to happen. If we're not careful, we'll put God in a box and try to tell Him how to do it, when to do it, and where to do it. Today's scripture tells us that God's ways are not our ways. They are higher and better than our ways.
If you don't get your way, if things don't happen on your timetable, instead of getting discouraged, why don't you believe that God has something better in store? Just because it doesn't happen your way doesn't mean it's not going to happen. Remember, God has a plan. He's got it all figured out. Don't limit Him by trying to get it done your way. Instead, simply say, "God, I'm trusting You. I know You have my best interest at heart. And even if I don't get my way, I'm going to stay open and believe that You're still directing my steps into the abundant life You have for me."

National Champions!!!

Do I have Tide Pride? You betcha!!! But am I a "fair weather fan". No way!!!
I don't care if we're winning or losing. I am still a Bama Football girl. This started way back when I was a little girl. I have pictures of myself and my daddy on the couch watching football. And yes, I know we've not had the best of records in recent years but it's all about loyalty. I have suffered the ribbings of opposing team fans for YEARS...but I've always stood by my Bama.
I am VERY proud that the Crimson Tide are the National Champions of 2009!!! We played well and thus attained our 13th title as National Champions. We had great coaches and players. What a record year!!!

So, in conclusion, I will end this blog entry with my favorite Paul "Bear" Bryant quote.

If you believe in yourself and have dedication and pride - and never quit, you'll be a winner. The price of victory is high but so are the rewards.

Princess and the Pageant

My princess was in the Jr Miss County Pageant last night. She did not place or win a crown. But she won my heart all over again. She taught mommy a few things AGAIN.

1. When My Princess told me that she didn't want to do this "stinking" pageant and she did it anyway?, she taught me to face my fears and conquer them.

2. When My Princess told me that the girl who won the crown was the one who deserved it?, she taught me good sportsmanship and to be gracious.

3. When My Princess walked on to that stage as contestant number one with elegance and did her very best?, she taught me that my daughter is growing up and facing challanges and my heart was filled with pride.

Mollie, Mommy is so proud of you and you are my Princess everyday. You don't need a crown for that. I love you.

Because of the hustle and bustle, I did not get not one picture of Mollie in her dress. I will share a few of the "before" make up and hair pictures later.

The Infamous Lanell and "Billy"

I have mentioned Lanell and "Billy" (Ross) so much that, I thought I would make them really real. Here they are!!! I think I may have already told the story about why I call Ross....Billy. I had gone to visit their church and from across the room, I thought Ross looked a little like Billy Joel. And from that day forward, he has been Billy. Sometimes I don't even know who you mean if you call him Ross. HeHe!

Take a look at "Billy" and Billy. Do you see any resemblance at all?

Happy New Year 2010

Good Morning and Happy New Year to everyone!!! I wish you joy in 2010!!!
Guess what? I got a letter from my Daddy and here it is.
Love to All

Well... what do you know?

When I fell asleep last evening it was 2009 and when I awakened it was 2010!

I really don't feel any older? Yes I do, but not just overnight. The old part is something that just gradually, and surely, creeps in. Someone has said, "You are only as old as you feel." Wow, that old?

Well, another year is here. What will I do with it? Well, I suggest we use the new year building bridges. First, build a bridges to the past. Carefully appreciate our heritage and experiences. We are indebted to a multitude of family and friends. We cannot communicate with those that are gone, but we can hold their memories in grateful esteem. Those remaining may be made closer and we may be enriched through contact and communication.

The next bridges to build, or should I say repair, are with the present. Time is fleeting and there is no guarantee of specific amounts. So many folks would rejoice to hear of our personal activities (and where abouts. What;is happening to us now, is fresh exciting news to so many even though it may be "same old thing to us."

A bridge to the future is of utmost importance. As we honestly look at ourselves, our concerns for the future are plenty. We are occupied with providing material things, increasing knowledge, participating in recreational pursuits and hobbies. All of these are needed but often neglected is the future of the soul. Soul future is of much more value than any earthly ties, material gain, or personal attainment.

Why not begin building bridges the very first day 2010? Someone from the past would be thrilled to hear from you. Perhaps those departed will know of your memories of them. Good relationships with present friends and family will grow stronger as your communication bridges reach them. And, don't forget to build your bridge to the future... eternity. Someone once wrote, perhaps it was Mark Twain,"I am very interested in the future because I will spend eternity there."

Reflectively, I remember how often my good friend E.J. Taylor quoted the poem "The Old Bridge Builder," to illustrate the reason for building bridges for younger generation's safety. And I remember the words of Bob England at the conclusion of every staff or store meeting, "Let's go take some mark-ups."

Oh! Its 2010 already 4 and a half hours old.

Lets all go and build some bridges!

HAPPY NEW YEAR.

I Love you
