Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord
With all your heart;
do not depend on your
own understanding.
Seek his will in all you do,
and he will direct your paths.

Safe Haven

My first read of the year. Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks. I liked it a lot. I try to be honest and not give away anything so that if you have not read it, I won't detour you from reading it if it wasn't my thing or give away something that is really awesome.
So, just to be clear. I did enjoy this book. It might not have been my favorite Nicholas Sparks but I did like it. And there was a twist I didn't see coming that made it really worthwhile. Now that part I liked a lot. Something I wasn't expecting.
I recommend you read it...and enjoy!!!

The Birthday Weekend...

My baby girl turned sixteen on the sixteenth. But it was more than a one day celebration. Friday night was a celebration at "Billy" and LaNell's house. It was a lot of fun. There was pizza, cake, balloons, a tiara, and a flashing "16" necklace. Of course, I will share pictures but ...I am a slacker and need to upload them. (sorry)

But let me just say..."Billy"(Ross) and LaNell are very special to us girls. Billy made Mollie the "princess" of the evening and she could rule the castle as she wished. They gave her the most beautiful leather journal I have ever seen.

"Princess" didn't demand too much. :)

Thank you guys for helping make Mollie's sixteenth birthday extra special.

Uncle Freak

Mollie (about 2yrs old) and Uncle Greg (sort of old)

Mollie (15 yrs old) and Uncle Greg (Really Old)

Mollie affectionately refers to one of her uncles as Uncle "Freak". Uncle Freak and Aunt Phyllis moved to Alaska and they came home for Christmas this past December. Mollie got to see them and I thought this would be an appropriate time to share these two pictures.

And his real name is Greg. :)

Safe

I feel safe in showing you this picture because, as I have stated in the past. My child does not read my blog....
Not too many days from now... she will be 16 years old. I can hardly believe it's been that long since I first held her in my arms. It's a feeling I will cling to forever. That 5lb 8 ounce baby girl changed my life forever.

The statue you see will be "gifted" to her this year. I got her when I turned 16 which makes her (the statue) 29 years old.

Don't even try to do the math. Let's just say I am oldER than I was when I got her.

She will now move into Mollie's room and live with her. Who knows...maybe one day Mollie will have a little girl who will get the "sweet sixteen girl".

Cavs offer homeless man with golden voice a job and a house

Today I learned the homeless man with a golden voice has been offered a job. What a wonderful story. It offers hope for the hopeless.
Best of luck to him!!!

Happy New Year 2011

Is it wrong to steal someone else's new year resolution list. Well, Laura I have to give you Kudos. I showed it to a friend of mine and she LOVED it as well. In fact we both agreed it is what we both were looking for but just couldn't put it onto paper. So, Laura...thank you once again for the inspiring list. We're making it ours here in Memphis.

• Laugh more, love more, pray more
o Spend time with those I love that make me laugh
o Show those I love how much they mean to me
o Remember that God meets me wherever I am
• Try something new each month (recipe, language, sport, art project, etc...)
• Create a budget and stick to it - it's time to see exactly where we spend our hard earned cash!
• Add exercise to my daily checklist
• Be grateful for each and every day
• Pay it forward as often as possible

I hope you will be able to copy this link or just click on it to read. Take a few minutes. It's very interesting and if you know anyone who has had breast cancer, it will make you aware of what is happening out there.

Slacker

Someone said I was a slacker...so...I went to see a movie on Friday. It was silly but funny.

I am sorry I have not blogged sooner. I was beat from 25 days of Christmas.

Happy New Year everyone.
